Krishna
Krishna, the blue-black shepherd's God with the flute, counts as the eighth incarnation (Avatar) of Vishnu. According to the Indian mythology, his parents brought him in safety before the hostility of the king Kamsa. So he grows up among cowherds. Many stories entwine around his pranks, his astounding strength and his play with the Gopis, the shepherd's girls. The lad enchants them with his charming flute playing and dances with them in the moonlight. The love relationship between Krishna and Radha is considered to be an allegory to the love of the God Krishna to the human beings and the devotion full of longing (Bhakti) in which his disciples revere him.
