Kali

Kali, the black goddess is the companion of Shiva. Usually she is pictured quite frightening, with a chain of skulls around her neck and a skirt of severed hands, stuck out her tongue far. In one of her many hands she holds the severed head of a demon. In Indian mythology Kali is associated with death and destruction, but also, paradoxically, with a mother's love and redemption.
