Tara

Beside the male Bodhisattvas there are also a number of female Bodhisattvas, from which Tara (Tibetan: Drölma) is the most important one. She embodies the motherly aspect of compassion and protects the people, while these cross the "ocean of the life". After the legend Tara has arisen from a tear Avalokiteshvaras. Tara has 21 different manifestations, from which the White and the Green Tara are the oldest ones.
